The bread helmet.

I read Rami Zurayk’s article on Middle East unrest in relation to bread prices in today’s Observer Food Magazine. It features the iconic image of a protester in Tahiti square wearing a helmet made out of bread and cling film. It also reiterates the message that 4 US corporations control 90% of global grain trade.

If this latter fact were common knowledge, would we be complacent to economies that permit the free market to continue, in place of a more regulated market which ensured fair prices and distribution of the world’s grain supplies?
